Bishop Hill Colony Church:

This Village annually allows the Quad City Basketry Guild (of which I am a member) to weave among its lovely oaks. On one such occasion, a large blowing and blustering Illinois thunderstorm struck. Rather than huddle in the bandstand in the center of the park, we took refuge in the Blacksmith Shop. There we found a warmth and kindness of spirit as they welcomed us and all our wet reed into there already quit full shop. We had a delightful time weaving baskets among their looms and knitting and pottery. The Shop has also shelters us on those SUB-zero Santa Lucia nights!

Jeffrey, the new potter there, was thrilled to conspire with us in hiding this letterbox for you.
Ask for Jeffrey and inquire as to how his pottery stamping is going. He is an amiable gentleman who will guide you to my Colony Church Stamp made lovingly by my husband to commemorate our favorite christmas concert locale.

The Nova Singers put on one HECK of a concert here annually. See the web site (Santa Lucia nights) for more details.

If Jeffery is not there, head out back of the Blacksmith shop and find the large pine tree. Seek its shelter – much as you would during a thunderstorm. You will be clunked in the head with our plastic container of joy!

Hint: You can see the Colony Church from the letterboxes’ hiding place.

Warming: Don’t touch the Kiln if it’s fired up!      You'll know.
