This letterbox celebrates Rock Day. What’s that? When is it? You may ask. You’ll just have to find this LB to get the answers. I can tell you that Rock Day has absolutely nothing to do with the Rolling Stones or any of their buddies.

Note: Before you set out, if you haven’t visited this spot before, you might want to do some letterbox homework.

Please bring your own ink.

A pace equals two steps (right, left.) Now to the clue.

To find this box, you must first answer this question:
What is the name of the device that holds flax, wool, etc. while a spinner draws fiber from it to spin her yarn? (Hint: It’s the feminine side.)

Use your answer as the Key Word to solve the following Key Word Shift Cipher and you’ll soon be on your way. (See Lnd Crzr’s Will Work For Peace Letterbox for a good explanation of how to solve a KeyWord Shift Cipher.)

Enter the woods and follow the trail as it meanders around the lake. There are lots of oak trees at this end of the woods. Before long, the trail dips down and back up near a small finger of the lake.

Continue on the path as it winds around the lake with slight changes in grade.

Soon you will reach another “down and up” at another finger of the lake. At the lowest spot a drainage crosses the trail and empties into the lake.

Take 12 paces up this winding drainage on your left. Two sections of a fallen log well known to woodpeckers lies across the drainage, one section on either edge. Look in the section on the right edge of the drainage. Something lies inside, guarded by - what else? - rocks!

As always, please rehide carefully. Put the box far enough into the log that it is not visible and replace its rocks. Use the LBNA “Contact the Place” link to let me know of your adventure. Good Hunting!
