We placed this letterbox after finding one of the two "Wye Island Letterboxes" hidden by the Forest Frog Family.
It was a breezy October afternoon, and -- being Sunday -- no hunting was allowed in the Wye Island Natural Resource Management Area. We almost had the trail to ourselves, but someone's dog had recently left a calling card in the middle of the path -- so be forewarned that you may need to watch your step due to some inconsiderate dog owners.

After crossing the Chesapeak Bay Bridge heading east on Rt 50, continue approximately 12.5 miles and turn right onto Carmichael Road. Travel 5.1 miles, ross the Wye Island Bridge, and continue south on Wye Island Road, into the Natural Resource Managment Area. Continue past the park office; and after the road becomes gravel, go approximately .8 miles to the Schoolhouse Woods Nature Trail parking area on your right.

Follow the Schoolhouse Woods Nature Trail but be sure to stop near post 8 to collect the Forest Frog Family's Wye Island Osage letterbox (see directions under their posting).

Continue on the trail, past post 10. After crossing the equestrian trail, notice the trio of wooden footbridges on your right. Just after the first bridge there's a large beech tree on your right. You'll find the Wye Island 'Shroom at the back of the tree, beneath some pieces of wood and bark.

We continued on past the fourth footbridge to a bank above the river -- a great place for a picnic, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Although we were unable to find the Forest Frog Family's second letterbox near here, we had a delightful time in this quiet place.
