To begin the search you will need to go to Elephant Rocks State Park. Here's a link for directions and more information: http://www.mostateparks.com/elephantrock.htm

From St. Louis
Take I-55 south out of St. Louis to U.S. Hwy. 67, just south of the Festus (Route A) exit. Turn right (Exit 174) onto southbound U.S. Hwy. 67 and drive past Bonne Terre, Park Hills, Leadington and into Farmington. On the south side of Farmington is the State Road 221 overpass. Exit onto State Road 221 and travel for 9 miles. When you reach the intersection with Route NN, go straight onto Route NN. Continue for 8 miles to a flashing stoplight at a three-way stop. Turn right onto northbound Hwy. 21 and travel two miles. The park entrance is on right side of road. The trip is about one and one half hours long.

Begin following the directions from the trailhead. It is well marked and the path is paved:

Follow the path around to the right.

Pink rocks everywhere, princess' delight.

Go through boulders and trees-

Stay on the path please!

Pass a spring, a bridge... be quick on your feet.

Find the second "well" with no hole,

and have yourself a seat.

Face the rock with two eyes.

Walk forward, then left to find your surprise

Thirty steps then ten will bring you to what you desire.

Part of it is still there, the rest was used for fire.

Dig deep under leaves and rocks.

When you go, be sure to rehide the box

Be sure to have fun; visit fat man's squeeze!

Climb around on rocks, but don't scrape your knees!

UPDATE: The trail has been re-paved so the bridge and stream are no longer there, but keep going and the clues will lead you there. As of 1/1/15 there is an entirely new box with a new stamp.

If you have any trouble finding the box, please feel free to email tamarwallace@hotmail.com. Also, we'd love to hear from you and what you thought of the park. This was our first letterbox, so we're still learning :) We hope you enjoy!
