The Three Snowflakes

Take Route 15 north from Essex into Jericho. Just before the bridge over the Browns River, make a left into the parking lot of the Old Red Mill. Old Mill Park is in the back. Park in the rear.

Follow the trail near the river until the trail forks. Bear right, continuing along the River Loop trail. Pass a bench labeled with a “1” and continue uphill on either the River Loop trail or the Pine trail. The two trails will merge again. After cresting the top of the hill you will continue on the trail when you reach planks over mud. Cross the planks and then stop.

Look up the hill to your left. You will see a group of white birches uphill. Walk about 50 paces to the birches. You will find the remains of a discarded, moss-covered footbridge. Reach under the uphill side of the section of the bridge that is flat. There you will find the Three Snowflakes box.
