This letterbox is in one of our favorite places in one of our favorite vacation spots. Cypress Village is a small shopping center in Gualala. It is located on Hwy 1 in the center of town. If you are coming from the South, turn right on Ocean and make a left into the parking lot. While you are there, visit some of our favorite stores: the Four-Eyed Frog for books, Spindrift Gallery, Placewares, Red Stella and Café Lala for coffee or cocoa.
Start your search from the Clock Tower. After scanning the coastline, look across the parking lot to the back part of the complex. Locate the lowest cypress tree and make your way to the path just below it.
As you face the tree, there will be steps up to your left.
Go 17 steps up, jog left, and up another 21.
At the top, continue straight and follow the bridge as it veers left. There will be landing directly in front of you.
The letterbox is hidden in the anchor bolts of the landing on the West corner. You will need to go underneath the landing to reach it. It will be above you, against the wall of the building. When we placed it, it was very easy to get to from almost any side. Even with significant growth it should remain accessible.
