Bucks Covered Bridge Series – #2 Van Sant Bridge

This box is located at the Van Sant Bridge on Covered Bridge Rd. Park right next to the bridge on the shoulder, only one side will have room to park. Face the bridge starting in the middle of the road at the “Caution walk bikes across” sign. Look at the top of the bridge and note when the bridge was built and its length, these numbers will help you on your quest. At your starting point walk north the number of paces that is half of the length of the bridge (each pace is two foot falls) across the bridge. Notice Christina on your right as you walk. Be careful of cars! Turn to the west and count the number of black stripes on the caution sign. Walk that many paces. Be careful not to walk too far into the pricker bushes. Turn to the south and walk a number of paces that can be found on the sign explaining the weight limit of the bridge in tons. You’ll then find a metal rod sticking out of the ground on your left. Continue south 11 paces to the waters edge. Take a minute to look at the beautiful creek and if you’re lucky you might see a duck or two. Be careful of the mud! Now turn north and pretend you are in 1870, how many more years will it be until the bridge is completed? Walk that many paces forward. Your treasure lies directly west in the hollowed out remains of a once beautiful tree. Once again be careful of the prickers. Be sure to cover well and place back high above the ground in case the water level rises. Good Luck!
