From I-35 take exit 43 and head east on Hwy G76 into New Virginia. Stay on this road – it turns into West Street in town. Go through the red flashing octagon and after the 2nd red octagon go 1/10 mile to the Gerry Allen Memorial Park marker. Turn east into the area and park on the rocky road to the tin shed. Find the trailhead at the Southwest corner of the park. Follow the footpath past the horseshoe pits and tall prairie grass. At the end of the wood chips take a 311° bearing to the muddy troll crossing and go to the top of the knoll. Look south and find Sean’s Trail in the arms of a knarrled giant.
Hike is about 1/2 mile and fairly level. Park is very muddy at times. This is a new park in town and still being added to. The land was donated to the city to be used for a park by Gerry Allen's parents after he died.
This letterbox is also a hybrid geocache. If you are a geocacher, trade some swag too.
Don't forget to bring your stamp pad.
There has been a lot of construction in the park and the tree this letterbox was in is gone. Will replace soon.
