Time and Length: about 40 min. round trip.
Difficulty: Some of this walk is flat, there are some rocks and a small hill involved, and lots of bridges to cross over.
Location: Trout Brook Resorvation : Holden, Ma.

Driving Directions: From the center of Holden, take Rt. 31 north, then turn right onto Manning Street. Trout Brook is about a mile on your left. From I-190 take exit 5, then take Rt.140 North, go about a quarter of a mile and make a left at the first set of lights onto Legg Road. Follow Legg road to the end and make a right onto manning street. Trout brook is about a mile on your right. Look for the green sign.

Clues:
After parking your car look for a green gate that says, “trout brook”. After finding the gate walk past and continue down the dirt road.(If the gate is open don’t drive down you might get locked in.) Walk until you find a cabin and a little pond. There will be a very big pavilion on your left . Walk around the pond to you get the first small pavilion.
Walk through the pavilion and CROSS OVER the small bridge. Continue up the hill marked with yellow dots. There is a red marked trail that forks to your left. Don’t take that trail, continue right on the yellow dotted trail. At the top of the hill rest and enjoy the view of the river below. Then follow the trail down the hill, soon you will see a ditch running down to the top of the rock dam. After admiring the running water find the yellow dotted trail and follow it down stream. Walk until you find the second bridge. CROSS OVER that bridge and make an immediate right and CROSS OVER the third bridge.
From the end of the bridge walk 13 paces and turn 90° left. Find the log and walk over it. (If the log is wet or you have younger children, then go back to the third bridge CROSS OVER it and take a left into the woods after you pass the stream. Then walk parallel with the stream till you find the log on the other side.) Once over the log walk about 50 paces up the hill towards the 20 foot boulder. Once you have reached the boulder walk around to the back and find the orienteering marker. From there stand in front of the marker and look for the first rock up the hill. This rock is surrounded by mountain laurel, behind the rock will lie my letterbox.
After stamping, PLEASE REHIDE VERY GOOD. Then find your way back to the bridge, either around the stream or over the log. Then follow the stream down to the pond walk around the pond and out the way you came in.
