This letterbox can be found at the site of the original
La Purisima Mission. This mission was destroyed by an earthquake in 1812. Some of the mission ruins remain along the end of South F Street in Lompoc. La Purisima was rebuilt at it's present site at Purisima Road off Highway 246.
Directions to the letterbox:
From Ocean Avenue in Lompoc, take South F Street. Follow South F Street until it becomes a dead end. Do you see the rock with the historical landmark sign? Facing this rock, walk to your left. Go down the slope to the railroad tracks. Once at the railroad tracks, walk east approximately 27 feet. Look to your left. Do you see the 2 white rocks? You will have to step up on the rocks and reach to the left under the plants. Lift up the wood and you should find the letterbox.
