-----------------------
Both boxes have been reported missing. Beltane in 2005, Ostara in 2006. Apologies.
-----------------------

Starting Point:
Make your way to Chatfield State Park. Unless you have a Colorado State Park pass, there is a $6.00/car fee to use the park.

Beltane
This box was planted following a beautiful Beltane / MayDay celebration complete with Maypole dance.

'But I must gather knots of flowers,
And buds and garlands gay,
For I'm to be Queen o' the May, mother,
I'm to be Queen o' the May.'

~~Alfred Lord Tennyson

Catfish Flats is the place to park.
The covered picnic area is the place to start.
Up the hill where two benches are set.
East to the thicket is where you'll head next.
Push through the branches to an old bike path.
South to a big tree that is now flat.
Five steps from the big exposed roots.
Turn to the West - now that's the place to look.

Note: This box is hidden VERY close to the trail. Please use discretion, and rehide the box well!

Ostara
This box celebrates the Spring Equinox, when the days and nights are of equal length and the Earth is returning to life from a long winter.

'Rejuvenate! ‘Tis spring.
Cruel winter's lost its cling.
We wake across this earth
To welcome its rebirth
Let loose old strings and sing!'

~Andrea Dietrich, 'Tis Spring

From the Beltane Box, stay on the same trail going South, keeping the lake to your left. You will come to a fork in the path, bear left. After about 10 minutes leisurely walk, you will come to a paved bike trail, go left here. You will be heading back into a thicket of trees where the trail begins to narrow with growth. At the first tree which has a limb stretching OVER the top of the path (walk under) take two paces from that limb. Turn left into the trees. About five steps in is a fallen tree on your left. Find your box "nested" under this log!

Walking Distance: Less than 1 mile for both boxes
Incline: None to speak of
Kid friendly: Sure - just bring bug spray - no strollers
Shoes: Walking shoes
Time: 1/2 hour to 1 hour depending on how fast you walk
