Rocky Nook Park is a small wilderness on the edge of Santa Barbara, just before the steep incline up into the mountains. It's really close to the Mission, so check out the Micro Mission Box while you're in the area. Boulders and smaller rocks pepper the grounds. Holley the Quail and her bevy scurry about here.

The Protocol:

From the playground take the path to the right of the horseshoe range. You'll walk along here with the creek at your right until a fork - take the right branch keeping close to the creek.

At the living horizontal tree, take 80 paces to a crossroads. Turn right to go up the little path to the top of the hill. From the top, take the path to your right 40 paces. At the tree with four trunks, turn left. Go 20 paces until the path ends at a boulder.

Now look at the many trees in this boulder garden. X marks the spot.

Be sure to cover Holley back up with the bark and other tree refuse when you are finished. Enjoy the sound of falling water and the view from the creek bank.
