Thomas the Tank Engine loves children. He likes nothing better than to take them for a ride on the playground line. The line starts behind the “VFW station” where kids can climb a dinosaur while waiting for the train. Thomas starts out of the station slowly, picking up speed as he follows the first baseline fence of the baseball field.

At the parking lot level crossing he slows down and blows a warning “peep peep” on his whistle. He then carefully crosses the parking lot to follow the bright yellow line of the outfield fence of the next baseball field. When the outfield fence turns towards third base, Thomas continues toward the next baseball field and swings around the backstop. He sees Peter Sam, who is pulling the ‘Tea Shop Special,” and they stop to chat while the children enjoy snacks.

From the “Tea Shop Special” Thomas steams over to Skip’s “sand quarry” where he watches Alfie at work scooping sand. From the quarry he follows the trail into the dark woods and quickly crosses the creek. The ride continues around many curves among the trees, swinging close to two impressive large trees. Eventually he crosses the creek again on a second bridge.

As Thomas passes a large rock on the left he chuffs to the children, “There’s a surprise hidden not far from here. If you look at 95 degrees from the rock you will see, off in the woods, a tree that has snapped. The tree snapped up high and is still attached to the tall stump. At the base of that stump, behind a pile of debris, is the treasure. Be careful going off the track though, poison ivy awaits the unwary.” (be sure to bring a pen and stamp pad, as the letterbox has neither)

Finally, with a weesh of steam, Thomas comes to a stop at Frank’s Pavilion station. The children can clamber off and enjoy the slides, swings and cars of the playground.

Enjoy.
