Difficulty: Easy clues, 60' gradual, smooth, grassy hill to climb. Great View!!
Time: 20 minutes. Distance ~ 200 yards round trip
Please bring your stamp, a stamp pad, compass, pen and an old rag to wipe off the box/your hands.

The "Safari Man- On The Highway/ and Interstate" series depicts things one might see as they drive the highways of the U.S. These are targeted mainly for rest stops but might pop up anywhere. This letterbox is titled SPEED BOAT. Happy traveling!

Clues: this letterbox is located at the rest stop at the Ohio 3 mile marker on I-77 about 3 miles north of Marietta Ohio.....off the northbound lane. There are several nearby cross overs before and after it for access from both directions but some are unmarked gravel and some have the funny U shaped symbol with a cross through it. If you don't use any of these cross overs it's a 10 mile loss using the Marietta exit and then the one 2 miles north of the rest stop to get there and back from the south bound lane.

Once entering the rest stop you will park in the first available auto/car parking lot on the left side. From the first parking spot take a heading of approximately ~ 140* and head up that big hill toward the largest oak at the top of the hill. Once up on top you will discover a concrete picnic table with two concrete benches flanking it. Go to the picnic table ( surely it will be unoccupied) and stand at the southwest corner of the table. Take a heading of ~ 225* and go 15 steps, stepping over the concrete bench, to a large hardwood tree. Go around to the opposite side of the tree and look about 6-7 feet up on the side of the tree to where the vine branches out and discover a camo tube stuck behind a branch. This would be your quest and you have a picnic table handy for doing the stamping. Before or after the stamping take note of all the goings on down below because you have a perfectly discrete vantage point. There was not much happening on this cold blustery day planting in February but hopefully there will be on your finding day. Please close up the baggie and tube cap securely to keep the log dry for future finders and rehide as found. Your help preserving this box will be greatly appreciated. Hope you enjoyed the respite from your trip and will drop me a line with your results. Cordially, Safari Man
P.S. There are also another boxes not far to the north and south of here of here on I-77 that you might want to check out if you have the time and inclination.
