Park at Cresent Lake on Ledge Road in Southington, best way to get there is from the Plainville end of Ledge Road.
Follow red/orange along the edge of the lake. When they fork, go right on orange which becomes Green/orange until the next intersection where you go left on orange (green goes right) following an old road bed uphill. The blazes here are every color of the rainbow but orange is the main one to the top. At the top go right on blue (blue also goes left) and several colors will follow you at first, stay on blue. The trail will go up and down hills with a land of boulders all around you. Eventually you cross a utility clearing (gas?) keep watch for a wooden structure (hunter's blind?) on the right at the foot of a cliff. After going downhill through a couple of "alleyways" between ledges you come to the BIG one (nearly impassable on this icy Feb. day) The tree at the top has multiple blue blazes and at the bottom is a tree with a white sign on it. From the top of this gorge, count back 60 steps, site 10 degrees to a triangular cave 16 steps away.
