Difficulty: Easy (but it may require some bush wacking)
Distance to Letterbox: 200 yards
Status of Letterbox: Alive and Well on 3/12/2007
The "Joe Swimmer" Letterbox is located in Cullen Park. Use the clues for "Cullen Cycle" for more details on the park. This replaced the retired "Farmer's Lair" minibox, and is in a new location.
Directions:
From I-10 and Barker Cypress, head north on Barker Cypress 1 mile to Saums Rd. Take a left on Saums and go .7 miles past the velodrome to the 2nd Cullen Park entrance on your right. From the park entrance go .6 miles to the last parking area on your right.
From the parking lot, walk Southeat on the asphalt trail. At the split, stay straight (left) and go into the trees. When trail curves off to the right, take the dirt trail to the left. Count 38 steps. You should now be at a spot where trail goes right. Take faint dirt trail left to the 10 foot dead tree. Now look at 110 degrees. Walk to the large tree on the slope in that direction. On the back side is a large hole about 4 feet up. Box is in the hole, covered with sticks. PLEASE put it back as you found!
