This letterbox is located along the 1/3 mile Woods Trial at the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge near Cambridge, Maryland. Take Route 50 to Cambridge and turn on to Route 16 West (Church Creek Road), you will see a brown sign directing you to the refuge. Continue on Route 16 for approximately 6 miles then turn left onto Route 335. Continue on Route 335 approximately 3.9 miles then turn left onto Key Wallace Drive. Continue on Key Wallace Drive approximately 2.5 miles and turn right following signs for Wildlife Drive. Continue on Wildlife Drive to the parking area for the Woods Trail on the right.

At the Woods Trail entrance bare to the right. Pass the "rusty iron remnants" on the right. You will come upon a sign post that directs you to either the inner loop or outer loop trail. Bear to the right for the outer loop trail and continue to the bench on your left. Located approximately 70 steps beyond this bench will be a culvert just to the right of the path and a large pine tree with an oval bare spot just to the left of the path. Stand with your back against this tree while facing a bearing of 130 degrees. Take 15 steps to a multi-trunk tree with an opening at its base. Inside this opening you will find the Woods Trail letterbox.

If the box needs attention please e-mail us at fuzzytrackers@yahoo.com.

Private vehicle entrance fee for Wildlife Drive is currently $3.00.

Be sure to check the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge web page at http://www.fws.gov/blackwater/index.htm for visitor information, including Blackwater NWR Prescribed Burn schedules when planning your visit.

Insect repellent during warmer months is recommended. Long pants are suggested due to holly and briar. The trail may be muddy in places.
