The entrance to Wright Woods is at the southern end of St. Mary's Road where is intersects with Everett Road. This is the same park that Trip Across America Part 3 is hidden.

Park in the first parking area. Enter the woods going south from the east side of the parking lot. Right away the trail will split. Do NOT go left. Continue walking straight instead. As you walk, look for a path coming in on your right. Go on that path when you reach it. It will take you close to the river. When you have a choice on this path, go left. From that turn, walk about 58 paces and you should see a V shaped tree on your left. Behind it is a very large fallen tree off of the path. About 5 or 6 feet from the base, under the tree and some bark, Nebraska is waiting.

Back on the path continue in the same direction with the river on your right. As you walk you might notice a thin tree on your right that’s been chewed by beavers. It is leaning toward the river over a small ravine. Walk about 9 paces farther on the path. On your left, a fallen tree in the shape of a V hides Hawaii. Look in the end facing the path under some sticks.

Back on the path again, walking in the same direction, you’ll pass two trees directly across the path from each other. The path will then go up on a slight incline. Notice a 2 trunked tree on the right growing right next to the path. To your left you should see a pile of cut branches. Pennsylvania is hiding in the eastern end of the large branch on the right. (It will be about 15 paces off the trail.)

The river should still be on your right as you continue on your journey. The path will dip down and then up again. It will curve to the right. Go past a 3 foot tall stump on the right. (It’s from a rather small tree that’s been cut down.) A little farther along, you’ll come to a very large stump about 3 feet tall on the right side of the path. From that point, go left into the woods about 48 paces to the base of a large fallen tree. Wyoming is hiding under some bark between the tall pointed stump and the tree.

Now to your last stop today. Continue on the path in the same direction. It will wind to the left. You might see a house or two now. As you walk you will see a “service path” to your right. Do not go there. Continue straight ahead about 120 paces. Look on your right for 2 trees creating a “gateway.” Between them is a 5 foot long tree part. It was apparently cut from the large fallen tree to your left as you are facing the “gateway.” Look inside the hollow base of the tree part for New Jersey. To get back to the parking lot, go back on the trail towards the service road. When you come to an intersection, turn right and follow the trail back to your car.

Please hide all letterboxes carefully after logging in.

“Trip Across America Part 3” is also in these woods. If you hunted for that part of the series and were unable to find Kansas, you can find it now on the way back to your car. Just pick up the clues from the point that you find Idaho. The clues will tell you to turn “right at the 3 way intersection.” That is the same point that you will be turning “right” when following the clues for “Trip Across America Part 4” and you are going back to your car.
