This lb is in tribute to my mom and her sisters. They grew up in the Oak Grove community outside of Ellisville. The house that they grew up in burned down a few years ago, not far from the spot where this lb is at. The church where the lb is at is the church that my mom and her sisters attended for many years and across the street is where the sisters all attended elementary school (the school is no longer there). My great aunt and uncle are buried in the cemetery along with other relatives.

Leave Ellisville on Hwy 11 south and drive for about 2 miles, past the State School and the Howard Industrial Park. Take the second road to the left (New Hope Road) to the Oak Grove Community. Continue until you can turn left again. Cross the rail road tracks and continue on until the road forks. Side note...as you go through this section, I just wanted to let you know that my mom's home was down this road along with my great aunt's. Follow the road to the right and park at New Hope Baptist Church on your left. Face the church and look for the barbed wire fence to the right/east. The box is behind the pine tree on the corner nearest to the road.

If you keep heading down the road, you will soon come to a four-way stop. Diagonally to the left is the site where the Girls’ elementary school once stood in the 1940s.

Be sure to look for the “Headless Horseman” and “The Fire Tower” letterboxes while in this community.
