The Louisiana State fish is the white perch. You can find this fish swimming around the Lafayette visitor center. The main entrance to the visitor center is directly in front of the building. Park in the parking lot The main entrance into the visitor center is on your left. However you will need to locate and go through a gate in the fence on the right side of the parking lot instead. Find a row of boxwood-type shrubs against the side of the building as you walk down the sidewalk leading to a tall wood fence. Reach down into the center of the bush closest to the fence to find the box. During your visit, be sure to walk through the main entrance as well to visit the ducks, turtles in the pretty pond out back.
