**RETIRED**
A block or two north of the Roanoke Bible College is a small park of wonder. It has one of the most interesting bridges ever built. RBC owns the land, but I haven’t seen many folks there during my visits. It’s a nice setting for whatever suits your fancy, although there are some strict rules, as you’ll see. This stamp is dedicated to the students past, present, and future.
The park is located about one mile north of downtown proper on N. Poindexter Road where the road ends at the mooring spot for the Tugboat “Ever”. The nearest crossroads are Ward and Poindexter. The Knobbs Creek Lawbreaker is just up the road on Ward toward Highway 17.
Here’s the riddle:
This bridge, it’s strong and just a bit steep,
Over a small waterway, not wide or deep.
At the northeast corner, under the end of the second board,
You’ll find a red metal box, showing the way to the Lord.
Look closely, this box looks like it belongs,
But the small “X” on the screw tells you you’re not wrong.
The box is not attached in its current hiding place,
And the screws don’t need to be loosened to enter the space.
Stamp at the nearby tables and thoroughly enjoy the view,
Across the north river, you might see billygoats, oh just a few.
The ‘Ever Tender’ when she’s in is quite a cool sight,
I thought about hiding this box there, but the Captain…he might bite:)
