Status of Mini-box: Alive, but damaged (lid missing)
The "Fox in Socks" mini-box is located in McKinney Roughs Nature Park, located between Bastrop and Austin. See "Rough Racerunner" for more details on the park.
Directions:
From Bastrop, go 8.4 miles west on Hwy 71 to turn in on the right for the park. Park near visitor center, and go in and register.
To the Mini-box:
Go to the back side of the Mark Rose Science Center. Take the Ridge Trail. At R3, go right a the juction with the bench. Pass R4, wildflower sign, R5 and reach another juction. Go right and pass wooden fence with opening (stay straight). Pass R6 and R7, until you reach a bench on the right side. From the back of the bench, go 26 steps at 110 degrees to the back side of a V-shaped dead tree. Box is on back side of right trunk, about 5 feet up on ledge of tree (with sticks covering the box). Take box back to bench to stamp in. Be sure to cover it well when you are done!!
