Millions of years ago, a small surge of magma rose thru the cracks in the earths mantle just west of present day Atlanta. This magma provided the recipe for a granite pluton to form. After erosion washed away most softer lighter material, we are left with interesting natural art in the form of granite boulders. These boulders at Boat Rock are perfect for rock climbing. Most are just the right height for "bouldering", which is climbing without a harness and ropes etc. This particular tract of land was saved from developers by a group of climbers known as the Southeast Climbers Coalition. It is accessed via a small parking area off of Boat Rock Road, which is off of Fulton Industrial Blvd. west of Atlanta.
Walk around and explore the boulders, and it should be pretty easy to find the Easy Crack climbing route. Don't worry, climbing is not required to get this box. Approach the Easy Crack as if you were about to climb it. Circumnavigate this boulder in a counter clockwise fashion, and very soon you will see a tunnel for you to crawl through. As you come out the other side of the tunnel, there is a tree growing in the rocks on your right. Three feet behind the tree there is a perfect size hole for a lock and lock box. Perhaps you'll find one in there.
