Take I-80 to the McDonald exit. Turn towards McDonalds (the fast food place) and Sheetz Gas Station. You will make a right at the Sheetz station (there is no street sign). Follow this street to its end and turn left onto Marshall Road. Follow Marshall Road until you come to two gas stations. This is Ohio Avenue and you need to turn right here. Take Ohio Ave. down to Fifth St. Make a right on Fifth and then an immediate right into the parking lot. This is the best place to park because the street immediately in front of the park is closed off during the peak summer months. Be prepared to do some walking. There are basketball, tennis and volleyball courts, along with a pavilion near the parking lot area.

Walk through the field of grass towards the playground. This is a very nice playground for kids of all ages to play. To the left of the playground is a paved path (large enough for a vehicle to travel but only used by Village employees). Begin your walk down this path. In a short distance you will see two separate fenced in, green gas wells (at least I think that’s what they are). Go to the very end of the second fence and turn right.

Starting from the part of the fence that is closest to the path, take 12 steps which should take you to a tree (2 steps = 1 step). Once you are at the tree, find 260° on your compass and head in that direction for 15 steps.

Now you should be standing at the bottom of a hill. Looking up you should see the roots of a tree that has been cut down and turned over. The box is in the back of this landmark.

If you continue to the top of the hill you will end up behind Ramsey Pavilion. Not far from here is a foot bridge taking you back to the playground.

I placed this letterbox for my Junior Girl Scouts who are earning their Orienteering Badge, but this is the first of many more letterboxes to be placed in this area, so keep checking back for more. Btw, this is a great place to plant a letterbox yourself, go on a wonderful hike and/or take a picnic.
