I have a friend who would jokingly insist that the grain elevators around Pullman were really built to hold the labs of the crazy WSU scientists. "They don't even try to conceal the weird pipes!" he would say. Any sounds heard near the buildings, such as creeking metal or bubbling from the nearby stream, would be attributed to stuff going on inside the "labratory". Therefore it is only fitting that this box is planted on April Fools Day! (Note: there really is a letterbox, the day just happens to be a coincidence)
Getting to the box:
Park at the Quality Inn in Pullman, WA at the start of the Chipman Trail. The Chipman Trail covers the seven miles between Moscow and Pullman, connecting the two college towns. Don't worry though, the roundtrip to this letterbox and back is only 1.3 miles. Your goal is the Elevator Spur sign situated next to a set of grain elevators. Read the information sign while waiting for the trail to clear of bicyclists and walkers. When the coast is finally clear, look under the basalt rocks behind the sign for the letterbox.
