The Waterwood Wildlife Trail is approximately 7 miles long and begins at the Waterwood National Golf Course and Country Club. It initially follows an existing gravel road before winding into the woods, then continues past the Lake Livingston marina and back into the forest. It then crosses FM 980 and continues past a unique, rustic chapel which is open to the public, and ends up back at the Country Club. It is part of the Big Sandy Loop described on the Prairies & Pineywoods Wildlife Trail - East map. Visitors might see Red Fox, White-tailed Deer, Squirrels, Opossums, Skunks and a variety of birds, including woodpeckers. This microbox is located on the trail near The Chapel of the Nativity.
Directions:
From Point Blank, go east on US 190 2.9 miles to its intersection with FM 980. Take FM 980 northeast until you reach Waterwood Parkway. On your left just past the intersection, you’ll notice a sign for The Chapel of the Nativity. Take the first left, about 100 yards past the intersection and park in front of the Chapel.
Clues:
Walk behind the chapel to the trail sign and walk 65 steps down the trail. Look left for a large pine tree with 2 smaller trees growing on each side 3 steps off trail. The camo microbox is on the back side of the pine between it and a small tree under rock and bark. Please rehide well.
