Difficulty: Easy (except stream jump)
Distance to Letterbox: About 200 yards

Status of Letterbox: Alive and Well on 10/30/2007

The "A Good Day for my Wife" letterbox is located in ID Fairchild State Forest, near 3 other letterboxes. See "TX RR3" for more details on area. The box is dedicated to my wife, though I don't think she enjoyed the humor as much as I did. Interested that while on the Letterboxing trip with my brother she spent most of the days shopping!!!

Directions:
From Rusk, take Highway 84 West toward Palestine. After passing through Maydelle, keep an eye out for FM747 which will T into Highway 84 from the North. At the T, turn left (south) onto a dirt road. You will see signs telling you you are in I.D. Fairchild and instructing you to stay on state property. Continue along the dirt road until you cross the Railroad tracks. Just past the tracks on the right will be an area with two picnic tables and a small pond visible from the road. Turn in and park there.

To the Letterbox:
At the pond, take the trail left heading around the back. Notice the trees with red and blue blazes on them. Go off trail and follow this line of trees. You will come to a creek, which you need to hope over. Now count 20 steps as you climb up the other side via a ravine (still heading toward more blazes). Now go left to a large pine tree with vines around it. The box is on the back side base, with sticks covering it.
