First you'll need to find this 72 acre park that from 1854 to 1890 used to be the mine site of the York Iron Company. This company produced some of the finest iron ore in the area also known as "Codorus Ore."

After you arrive and park in the small parking lot, you might want to take a gander at the posted map of the park, just to get your bearings. Then you can set off through the farmer's field on trail #1. Follow the trail #1 through the woods. Soon the trail will bring you to the tree line that starts on the left, you will see trail #1 go into the woods. Instead, continue to follow the tree line on the edge of the field and take trail #2 into the woods.

Follow this trail (trail #2) for a short bit. When you come to the end of it, you'll see a sign on the left for trail #1. Stay straight onto trail #1 and follow going uphill approximately 43 steps to a small tree. In fact, this is a small, *two* trunked tree, with a horizontal cut in it. It is the first of four two-trunked trees. Behind this tree is a large rock. At the base of the rock on the right side is what you seek.

Please reseal and rehide well in the burlap bag using the rocks, sticks, and leaves to conceal the box. An ink pad is NOT included. A dark color is recommended. Thanks and enjoy!

Hike Length: 0.8 miles

This park has seen a lot of vandalism in the recent past. There used to be fencing up all around the overlook area but I'm told by recent finders that it is gone now. Please be careful!!

October 17, 2010 - still active.
