Dedication Point is just one of the historic sites you can visit as part of the Western Heritage Historic Byway. It runs through and out of Kuna into the countryside through the Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area to Swan Falls Dam.

Dedication Point
Located along the rim of the Snake River Canyon, Dedication Point serves as a primary interpretive and education site for the National Conservation Area. The 200 acre site contains examples of four different habitats (winterfat, sagebrush, grassland, and canyon cliffs) that support various flora and fauna. A 1/4 mile loop trail leads visitors from the parking lot adjacent to Swan Falls Road to a impressive view of the Snake River canyon. The overlook's proximity to historic nesting territories offers the opportunity to view prairie falcons, red-tailed hawks, golden eagles, and turkey vultures. The 485,000-acre Birds of Prey National Conservation Area (BPNCA), established in 1993 and managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), is one of 13 federally designated national conservation areas in the country.

From I-84 take exit 44 (Meridian) and head south on route 69 to Kuna. Drive through Kuna and turn left onto Swan Falls Road. Follow the signs to Dedication Point. Approximately 20 miles south of Boise.

Follow the dirt path towards the canyon overlook from the parking lot. Come to the sign that says “Snake River Birds of Prey Natural Area.” Find 155 degrees on your compass from this sign. Take 30 Lizman steps or 15 Lizman paces at 155 degrees. You should be standing directly over the box. It is hidden in a crevice in the lava rocks below your feet. Please replace rocks carefully so they look natural.

Idaho is snake country so please, please, please use a stick and gloves when reaching into any holes or crevices. Although we did not see any snakes when planting this box I did overturn a large boulder and ran smack dab into a scorpion! Please use caution when letterboxing in the desert! Also please watch small children and pets near the cliff’s edge.

Should you note the box missing, it’s contents in bad repair or if you just want to say “Howdy” please contact me at Blackvelvetrav@yahoo.com.
