This letterbox honors Poolesville, Maryland, a nice little town on the edge of Montgomery County. If you haven't been to Poolesville before allow yourself some time to drive through the little downtown, see the Poolesville museum in the old town hall, and maybe drive out to White's Ferry, where you can take the Jubal Early across the Potomac to Leesburg, Virginia.

To find this letterbox turn northeast onto Spates Hill Road off of MD 107 (Fisher Avenue) south of Poolesville. Drive through three intersections then turn left on Seneca Chase Park Road. Enter Stevens Park.

Take the asphalt path that runs between the jungle gym and the tennis courts, running vaguely toward the northwest. Take a left and stay on the path past the baseball diamond on your right. Continue on the path until you see the sign for a recreation trail (Note: This sign may have been removed recently), and a 1.4 mile marker.

Continue down the recreation trail past a bridge and a bridgy-looking culvert. Keep walking and you'll soon see a grassy path at a heading of approximately 90 degrees (I suppose it won't be grassy in the winter). About 75 steps down the path you'll see a fallen, forked tree trunk on your left, lying in a 75 degree direction. The letterbox is underneath the trunk, hidden under bark and sticks.

Please be discreet when finding the letterbox, be careful to double-bag the contents and seal the lid of the box well, without catching the bag in the lid. Please re-cover the box well with sticks and bark, so that it won't be found accidentally.

Note: I am only in Poolesville during the winter, but have been told that during warmer weather this area is very green and leafy, possibly with poison ivy. If you try to find this box during the spring or summer you may want to bring gloves, and find a stick to poke at the box.

Thank you!
