There is a steep incline and tight turns. Not recommended when the path is muddy.
Located in Crapo park in Burlington.
The spring is named in honor of Chief Black Hawk. He would use this spring when he was camping.
The Main way in is the route you seek.
Overlooking the river; the small house you should see.
Park and proceed on foot.
Take the path to Black Hawk Spring
Climb over the rock and try to stay dry as you proceed to the right around the bend.
Spend some time peering in the caves and continue on your way.
Stop at danger and enjoy the view of the widest river known to you.
The trail leads you north.
Beware the spiders mouth on the side of your beating heart.
The bridge is not the path you seek.
Your path goes up the hill.
Look for the giant squid with pointed tentacles.
From there take 48 paces (1 pace=1 step)
Go up the rock stream.
Go over the archway and past the three totem poles which are in a straight line from smallest to largest going towards the southwest. The box lays waiting near the fence and out of sight. Look for the hollow spot. You can follow the path out to the right for an easier way back to your car.
