*** I notice that a no trespassing sign has been put up. This could be due to the rain we have been having in our area. I will keep an eye out for a few months and see if they take the sign down. ****
Yes Deer is at the Bridge at McAlister Crossing (Mueller Bridge) Historical Marker in La Vernia. Hip Hip Hooray is also at this site and Mary Bailey Polley's Candles is down the road.
From US 87: From Sutherland Springs travel north on FM 539 until you reach the second Historical Marker (the first one is Mary Bailey Polley's Candles)
From La Vernia area: From the intersection of Fm 539 and Fm 2772 travel south until you reach the first Historical Marker.
Park and head down the trail to the bridge. Some time there is a temporary fence up that you have to step over. Depending on the time of year, this path can be pretty over grown. Be sure and keep an eye out for critters. Continue straight down the path until you see the bridge. There is a barrier to keep people from going onto the bridge. Find the center wooden post on this barrier and the letterbox is under some asphalt at the base.
