Terrain: Some small hills, a little rocky in some spots and if it's been raining, expect a lot of puddles and muddy water. Some off trail walking is involved.

Time: Can be done in 45 minutes. It may take longer as the scenery is spectacular.

Follow Route 20 West past Westfield for about 18 miles until you come to the center of Chester. From here, turn right onto Middlefield Road and follow this road 2.4 miles until you see a small dirt road pull-off on the left. Park here. Follow the dirt road north. Soon you will cross a small metal bridge over a nice little waterfall area, then a small clearing. If you walk over to the river's edge on the left and look left, you can see the famous "ARCHES". These are designated as historical sites. There are two more up river if you follow the trail. Continue to follow the road. It will bend sharply left. You should continue to follow this road until it splits. The path on the right takes you on the KAB trail. You should continue to the left towards the train tracks. You will see a path going down to the river towards the bridge. Take this path. Walk down to the water and you will find a small “home made” bench. Take a rest here. After resting, look up the hill and you will spot a stone wall, through some ferns in the summer, with a dead tree lying across it. The old man lives to the left of the dead tree in the stone wall. About five paces will do.

After stamping in, you’ll be surprised to know that you can see the old man for yourself. From the top of hill, go back on the path towards the tracks. At the edge of the tracks, look left to the ledge on the right side. You will see his profile.
“Please use caution when looking at the old man. Trains run regularly on these tracks”.

Leave the way you came in. Also, look for “Bambi” hidden on the trail.
