In Chambersburg there’s a nationally recognized program for women with children. On Mother’s Day a little token of appreciation for the perseverance of these (and other) women was planted there. Park just before you cross the creek at the north end of campus. Walk across two bridges and under an old railway trestle (avoid the horses, but look for the farm). On your right an interpretive trail begins. As you hike, try to enjoy the Con (as some of these hard-working women will call it). Soon you’ll pass under some trees. The old mill once was a place of work. Now, with a little work, you’ll find the right place. Climb up the hill just to the left of the first stone wall (a makeshift trail should be visible). As you turn to enjoy the Con once more, you’ll find that token of appreciation under a large stone.

Be careful going back down the hill. If you choose to continue on the trail, you’ll have another ¾ mile or so before you reach a picnic table and a gravel road. Either retrace your path from there or hang a left on the gravel road and check out the farm as you return to your car.
