Note: sounds like the box is missing as of July, 2010, but some excellent letterboxers may be on the trail to replacing it soon. Check here for an update before looking (possibly with some new directions).

The Blueberry Island letterbox is located on -- you guessed it -- Blueberry Island. This is that name that certain knee-high visitors have given to the favorite canoe landing spot in the middle of Dug Pond in Natick (no matter what its real name is). Get to this island however you can -- swimming, skating, wading through chest-deep water from nearby Lakeview Ave -- but we usually use the public boat launch on West Ave. in Natick and paddle our way over. Bring a trash bag with you so you can do a good deed once you're out there and you'll be lucky for a week!

Clues start at the spot on the island that is the very closest to the mainland shore. Call this the southwest edge if you like, or double check that you're in the right place by looking over to shore -- you should be able to see the noteworthy colors of the house at #45 Lakeview Ave. from your starting point.

CLUES:
Look all around you from starting point and find a birch tree with a strip of missing bark four feet up its trunk. Go and hug that birch tree.

From birch, follow shoreline path to the west approximately 50 paces until you find a gnome house on your right.

Follow the downed tree directly opposite gnome house to its very tip near the water. Look inside to find your prize.

Good luck!
