The answer to this mystery is in the first box. Solve the mystery (What Am I?) before you go to find the box, contact me with the answer and I will give you the clues to the bonus so you can get them both at once. Otherwise, you can contact me with the answer after you find the first box and make a second trip for the bonus. FYI – the bonus box is elsewhere in the Preserve.
Directions:
From Middletown or Old Saybrook – take Route 9 to exit #10. At the end of the ramp turn left (north) on Route 154. At .07 miles turn onto Dripps Road (gravel). Immediately the road bends and the entrance to this hike is at a gate on the left. Park at the gate or continue up to a small parking space on the right.
Clues:
The hike at this Preserve is a lollipop hike (picture a stick and then a loop) on a white blaze trail. Follow the stick until you come to a T intersection. Go left, which is the white blaze trail and make a quick right off the trail through the opening in the stone wall. Walk about 17 paces to a 2 sister tree. Look at the bottom of the wall on the west side. Remove several stones to uncover the mystery.
If you wish to continue your hike, go back to the trail and continue to follow the white blazes. At this point in your hike you have not reached the lollipop loop yet. Watch for the blazes indicating the loop – complete the loop and walk back on the lollipop stick following the white blazes back to your car.
