Update 6/29/18: The stamp is broken. I pulled the box and hope to recarve and return it soon.

Fee: $8.00 to park in the park unless you have a MA ParksPass. This costs $60 per car/per year. This is a beautiful and well cared for park! Be advised to bring sunscreen and bugspray. Always check for ticks. I've not seen any here, but always check.

Rutland State Park is a 300 acre recreation area with developed facilities for fresh water swimming, picnicking and boating. At Whitehall Pond, there is a swimming beach and adjacent picnic area.

Recreational Opportunities
Non-motorized boating, Canoeing, Fishing, Group Day Use, Hiking, Hunting (Restrictions), Mountain Biking, Picnicking, Restrooms, Scenic Viewing Area, Skiing (Cross-Country), Swimming, Walking Trails.

Park Directions
Rutland State Park is located in mid-central Massachusetts.
From east or west: Rte. 2 to Rte. 31 south, Rte. 122 north, right on 122A, follow signs.
From Worcester: Rte. 122 west, right on 122A, first left.
From Holden: it's 2 rights into the park from 122A.

You will need an ink pad. Any color will do. Enter the park with the mini-ranger station on your left and bathrooms on the right. Pass the beach on your left which is a lovely spot for kids to play and swim. This park has LOTS of picnic tables so you may want to bring a lunch. (We always do.) You are traveling partway around the pond. Pass another bathroom on your right. The pond curves toward the road and then away again. Look for the next picnic area on the left. Do you see painted arrows on the road? Follow the light blue arrow pointing west into the woods. Look for a concrete fire pit. Take a compass reading of 270 degrees (with the pit on your left) You are looking for a 3 trunk tree that looks like a W. The Beatles are sitting in the tree.

This song means something special to my husband and I. We married before we were halfway to 64, but we love the sentimentality of this song. Free free to sing or hum along while finding this box. You can always look up the lyrics if necessary.

This stamp made it's first appearance in a national postal letterbox ring in December 2006. Make sure you log in and drop me an e-mail to say hi or tell me if something is wrong with my box.

Twilight Zone: The Mighty Casey letterbox, also in this park, is missing as of 5/28/08.
