This box is located at the northern terminus of the Arizona Trail – a nearly-completed, 790-mile long, hiking/biking/equestrian trail that crosses the state from north to south.

TO THE BOX
Traveling on Highway 89 through Utah’s Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, turn south on House Rock Valley Road (between mile markers 25 and 26). This is a graded dirt road that is suitable for passenger cars, but is CLOSED to ALL vehicles in wet weather due to sandy areas and multiple wash crossings. If you’re inclined, it is a quick 30-mile shortcut to Highway 89A and Jacob Lake near the Grand Canyon’s North Rim. The box can be found at the Stateline Campground, almost 10 miles south of Hwy 89. This is a nicely developed area with restrooms, an informational kiosk and signs, and two campsites each in Arizona and Utah.

Park near the covered kiosk and head uphill on the Arizona Trail. In a short while, you will come to a shaded bench with info about the surrounding geology. Looking back down the trail, you can still see a sign that marked the spur for the Ridge Trail. Half-way in-between is a dying pinon tree just off the right side of the trail. From that tree, take 6 steps at 115* from north. The box is hidden under a rock ledge.
