Before heading out west. Go online and read up on the history of Temecula. It boast the 2nd oldest zip code in California. Partly because it was on the Butterfield Stage coach line.
Ranchos and Californios made this area rich in history.

Butterfield Square- you’ll find it at the south end of Old Town. This is a large size puzzle for some local contractor years ago. Purchased in Kansas, numbered, disassembled, and reassembled in Temecula. Much like piecing together a quilt. It once housed a museum, now the businesses change weekly. Check out the old tin roof, the stair banisters and the sturdiness of the handicap walkway. Did you test the solid railroad ties upstairs. Now that you’ve ventured upstairs and down “Where past meets present” turn around. Beneath 3 wooden steps high, on the west, under a brick from Kansas.

Cowboys will check out this dance hall nation wide. Once a hardware store. By the south arch to Temecula “est 1859” a hundred years before my time. Sorry for the crawl Under the SE bay window. THIS BOX IS SCREWED DOWN. PLEASE TAKE OF THE LID AND CONTENTS AND REPLACE FIRMING THE SEAL

Here's an idea for lunch:
Old Town changes randomly. You’ll find old buildings on rollers moved from one point to another, Nothing stays in the original spot. Although it might be an original building. But the city fathers have plans. All those multi-story buildings are part of it. The only original part of Temecula would be Main St. Interesting history step inside some of Main St. stores. The Mercantile. And check out that wanna-be old building on Front st. The first of the "new" buildings. The Chaparral Center. If you wander upstairs, second floor, you can watch a lot of the happenings in town. The hawgs across the street come and go. Under the bottom stair step of the north west stairs going to the 3rd floor should be your silver little box. BE DISCREET. ONCE AGAIN BE DISCREET! THE LID IS SCREWED TO THE STEP, REMOVE BOTTOM AND REPLACE FIRMLY. Oink.

Dessert; Hotel Paloma is another original building. Front & 5th street. You’ll see the old and new mix. Chose root beer floats at the candy shop or malts at Mad Madelines and some where by Madelines B.B.Q is your Letterbox! The combination is when Temecula was established BACKWARDS!
PLEASE DO NOT SAY THE COMBO OR THE CLUE OUT LOUD! DO NOT REPEAT THE COMBO OR CLUE OUT LOUD! Enjoy!
.
YOU MUST BE DISCREET OR THE BOXES DISAPPEAR AND YOUR SEARCH WILL BE IN VAIN!!!!!!
