From Hwy 8 (just west of Taylors Falls), travel south on Hwy 95 (St Croix Trail) for 1/2 mile past the new Franconia Sculpture Park.
Turn left onto Franconia Trail. You'll follow the gravel road 1/2 mile back to a simpler time.
Turn right at stop sign onto Summer St and go over the trout stream. At Cornelian Blvd, look to your left and read about historic Franconia.
Continue southeast on Summer St to the boat landing on the St Croix River. Notice the overhanging branch on your left. You will walk under this branch to follow the trail upriver.
From the branch, walk about 87 paces to the southernmost corner of an old foundation. (Please be careful of the barbed wire fence that follows the trail on your left!).
Turn around and walk about 12 paces back along the trail and step over to a stump wrapped in barbed wire. Turn and walk due north until you arrive at the foundation.
Peek over the wall where a rock did fall. Underneath this rock you'll find our letterbox!
Please replace carefully, and let us know if the box is missing or damaged. Thank you!
