Buffalo Bill Cody was born near Le Claire and lived near town until he as about 7 years old when the Cody family moved west.
This box has a hand carved stamp, bring your own stamp pad.
Find Buffalo Bill's boyhood home on the north end of town right on Hwy67 between Chestnut and Oak Streets.
Turn up Oak Street that dead ends at Scout Park that was established in 1836!!
Just a couple blocks north of young Will Cody's home, just imagine him running up the bluff to the park and playing in the woods -- shooting at deer with a pretend gun made of a crooked stick.
I'm not sure but I think some of the playground equipment is about that old too! There is, however, a modern playground, a great gazebo, picnic tables and a great view of the Mississippi through the trees.
CLUES:
As you ride the seahorse look over your left shoulder.
You will see a section of a retaining wall between two huge trees.
Walk up to that section of the retaining wall and start looking in all the nooks. Don't worry there are only about 6 that are big enough for a box. What you are looking for is a film canister.
NOTE: You will need a short stick to "fish" this box out of its hiding place.
Hint: Top row, 3rd stone, bottom row, little hole on mulch line. I've attatched a pipe cleaner to this film canister to make it easier to fish out . . . so when you reach in and feel something fuzzy don't freak.
