Difficulty : (easy) long gentle hill
Directions: to the park
Traveling EAST take Rt. 50 (Columbia Parkway) Take the Rt.125 Beechmont Ave. exit off the Parkway. After right turn (continuous). Take another right at the first street on right. (Wilmer Rd.) At the next light take a right onto Beechmont Circle (continuous right ) Keep going right until you are on Beechmont Ave. Then take another Right onto Harold. (to Rt.
50 sign )Left at the light (Eastern Ave.) Short distance take a Left on Heekin Ave.
Traveling West:
Rt.50 (Columbia Pky.) Exit Rt.50 (truck route) Take a Right onto Heekin Ave. to the park entrance.
At the top of the hill you will be at the park entrance .At the first stop sign take a Right
Continue past a driveway on your right. Park in the first parking area to your right across from the "Gardens"
Clues:
Walk to the "service drive only"
The trail head Ault Park " Tree Trail " will be down the road on your left.
Take a map from the box at the trail map board.
Be extra careful walking down the wooden steps, the leaves can be slippery !
Continue down the path until it comes to a "Y"
Merge Right. Notice the "Quercus rubra " on your left.
Continue down another set of steps until you come to the last step and a large rock.
Standing on the rock due NORTH about 22 paces you will see a knurly rotten stump about a foot or so tall. The Lost Turtle letterbox is in the stump.
You can continue on and do a loop back to the parking lot if you wish.
