This box is located in Kempner Park and I think it is one of Galveston's most beautiful. It is an excellent place to stop and have a picnic before going to the beach.
Directions from Houston:
Go south on I-45 till you reach galveston, turn right on 27th st. and right on Ave. O. Park in the lot by the large octagonal building.

That large octagonal building, BTW, is called the Varien-Garten building and was constucted for german social gatherings a hundred years ago. Its still used today.

Now for our box and its occupant. A beautiful building used to stand near this park. It was called the Ursuline Academy and Convent. It was started by the Ursuline sisters of New Orleans. It was one of the few large buildings to withstand the horrible hurricane of 1900 and was a galveston landmark until 1961 when it was damaged by hurricane Carla and then demolished. One little Ursuline sister was unable to leave her home in Galveston, so she's decided to find some peace and quiet nearby in Kempner park. After you arrive and you've sufficently picnicked or paroused the grounds, locate the fountain. Look behind the fountain to a semicircular path with benches. Walk around this half circled path until you figure out what David Kempner Thorne did to honor his mother. The letterbox is in the shrubbery behind the plaque.

The FF prize for this box is the "Thar She Blows" HH.
