The Lost River Cave and Valley is an urban Nature Sanctuary. Sixty-eight acres of green space include a diversity of wildlife habitat including river, wetlands, blue holes, limestone bluffs, grassland prairie, cedar glade, springs, and hardwood forest. The valley boasts over 130 species of birds during spring migration and an abundance of mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. This web of life extends into the cave, where countless critters live quietly in the darkness. This is the only underground boat tour in the state. This is a very unique and special treasure.

Take I-65 to Exit Number 20. This is the Natcher Parkway (it begins at this point). Take the 1st Exit (Number 4). Turn right onto 31-W. Go 1.1 miles and Lost River Cave and Valley will be on your right.

This is the 3rd in the Cave Critter series of 3 stamps.

Proceed on the Blue Hole Valley Trails after you've found Cavemander and Blind Blue Boil. Your destination is Blue Hole #1. As you are walking down towards the Blue Hole, you will see a large wooden bird feeder on your left. Directly behind the feeder is a large tree. Walk to the tree and look behind it and slightly to the right on the ground. There's a small cedar log. RADAR is perched underneath.

More information on Lost River Cave and Valley can be found at www.lostrivercave.com. We recommend the boat tour. But you can walk the trails without a cave tour for $5.
