~This is a series of four boxes. They had a "previous life" as postal letterboxes and now want to be "real" boxes 8-)

There is only one log book in this series. You will need markers to achieve the image in the log book.

Dogs are welcome, but must be "under control".

Ferns are abundant here, as well as mosquitoes.

Head east on route 207 from the center of Lebanon. You will take your first left on to Kick Hill Road. Follow this for ~ 3miles and take your third right on to Pigeon Swamp Road. Follow this until the pavement ends and park in the area near the Joshua's Trust Preserve sign. Please make sure not to block any of the nearby driveways.

After parking, face the sign and head to your right. Turn left with the yellow blazed trail. Walk around the metal gate and through the opening in the beautiful stone wall. Immediately after going through the wall, stop. Turn left and walk just to the dead tree/stump. Look behind it, against the wall for box #1 Lamppost, low in the wall,. This box was originally part of the Chronicles of Narnia postal letterbox ring.

Continue on the trail to a three way intersection. Turn left here with yellow.Walk to where there is the first stonewall on either side of the trail.Turn left in the opening/on the trail and look on top of the end of the wall under a few small rocks for box #2 The Coy One. She was originally part of the Many Moods of Tink postal letterbox ring. Please be sure to re-hide her very well so she isn't discovered by accident.

Head back to that three way intersection that you just came from, going to the left on blue. Soon you will come to a fork. Go right at this fork, heading towards Marsh View on yellow. When you come to a third stone wall that is on both sides of the trail, go through it and then stop. Turn left and go along the wall to where it stops. Stop. Look at where the wall starts again and you will see a large, flat faced stone at the end. Look under this rock to find box #3 The Forest Awakens. This was originally part of the Ode To Spring postal letterbox ring. This is the box that contains the log book.

Go back to the trail and continue in the direction that you were heading. You will come to another intersection. If you go left here you will get to see the Marsh View (4/19/09-this trail is now blazed red). It is only about 400 feet down the trail. When you are done looking at the marsh come back to this intersection and continue on.

Travel a bit, and come close to the marsh's edge. The trail will start to turn to the right and go gently uphill. Pass a large hole alongside the right side of the trail. At this point you will see a large evergreen ahead of you. When you are standing next to this tree on the path-stop. Turn left and cross the stone wall. Stop and take two steps to the right. Look low in the wall behind a rock or two to find box #4 Unicorn. This was originally part of the Enchantress Magic postal letterbox ring.

When you are done, go back out to the trail and continue on. Just follow the yellow blazes and you will come out to a dirt road. Turn right with the arrow and very soon you will be at the parking area.

I hope you enjoyed this loop hike around part of this wonderful preserve.

Flutterby~
