Tennessee has a proud county music history. This Country Music Instrument series remembers some of these old timey musical instruments, and in this box you will find one of them.
From I-75 in Tennessee, take exit 122 at Norris and turn east on Highway 61. You will pass by the Museum of Appalachia which has recently become an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution. Yes, its that good, and it has an excellent musical instrument collection making Norris an appropriate place to hide boxes in this series.
Turn north on US Hwy. 441 and drive to West Norris Road where it "T's" on the right with 441. Turn east. Norris is not big and the streets are named but it can be confusing 'cause they curve every which way. Look for Reservoir Road and get on it going east. You should see this road take off in front of the Norris Middle school just past the little business district.. You might want to take a Google map with you for confidence.
Remain on Reservoir Rd for a short while and turn left on to Reservoir Hill Rd. In May 2007, this was a good gravel road. The dead end road leads to a water tank supplying water to the city and is less than 1/2 mile long. Turn right into a large paved parking lot just before you get to the top of the hill. Although not signed, This is the Carson Brewer Trail and Picnic Shelter area. Park here.
Look for the amarillo sentinels and enter. You might come upon a gray rock with a negro top and a Foster 2000 sign. Moving on, paws a moment and watch for Lions. They might be stalking deer in the east meadow. Run some water for the creatures and move on to the HUGE tri-oak. Stop here and check for signs of the Ancient ones. There is an interesting one at 228 degrees.
Replace the rock as it helps to shed the rain. While doing so, sprinkle some fresh forest floor stuff over it all while murmuring praise and thanks to the Almighty for the beauty you have seen here today.
the trail is paved for handicapped persons, but the box it self may not be retrievable if you are handicapped.
Be sure to look for other country music instrument boxes in Norris. Collect them all!
