This box was originally placed last summer but I must have uploaded the info incorrectly since it hasn't been listed and as of a week ago (June, 2007) it was in pristine but unstamped condition. I hope this works and Letterboxers will soon be searching for it and enjoying Fort Williams Park. Be the first to find it!
Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth is the home of the world famous Portland Head Light and is a marvelous place for a picnic, a short hike along the Cliff Walk, or a dip in the ocean for the thick-skinned. There is also a picturesque ruins up on a hill and a nice little playground where the Leapfrog box may be found.
After entering the park, follow the paved road to the right, not down to the beach. Go past the lighthouse and continue up the hill all the way to the end where there is a little playground with swings, slides, see-saws, and climbing bars. There is also a beautiful statue of two children playing leapfrog which was the inspiration for the stamp but I must apologize for the stamp quality.
Standing outside the playground fence, cross the road (going away from the playground) and go up the short paved path. From the end of that path, go about 12 paces to the right to a multi-trunked tree. Not the multi-trunked bushes above, but the freestanding tree. Reach under the roots on the backside and find the box!
