Where is Crocodile Lake?

No, we do not have crocodiles in Nebraska. When my young daughter sees a lake she always asks “Is that Crocodile Lake?” This idea comes from viewing one of her cartoon programs. So in her honor we created this letterbox. This stamp is from the retired Eric Carle postal ring and I am happy to send it out into the wild.

This letter box is planted at Wildwood Lake. Wildwood is located two miles north of Branched Oak Lake in northern Lancaster County. Wildwood features a boat ramp, restrooms, foot bridges, hiking trails, roads and parking areas. There are more than 120 acres of virgin and native grass prairie open for public exploration. In addition, more than 17,000 trees and shrubs have been planted to improve wildlife habitat. It is a no wake lake (5 mph) and is the only NRD-owned property managed under cooperative agreement by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. A lake restoration project was completed in 2003 and included an ADA compliant fishing pier, new restrooms and many fish habitat improvements, such as the creation of four islands in the upper end, and many jetties, piers and scallops.

Clues:
Take Hwy 79, north of Lincoln. Drive past the town of Agnew and turn west on W. Little Salt Road. It is a gravel road. Turn north on NW 84th Street and drive to the Wildwood Lake entrance. Park in the parking lot. Walk north and go over the bridge. Follow the trail north. Before the trail turns west, there is a low area on the trail that has trees and growth on either side. On the west side, just off the trail is a multi stemmed Mulberry tree. In the crotch is the letterbox. You may need to use branches to keep it out of sight from the trail. Please hide well. Bring a set of markers if you can, this is a colorful stamp or at least the color green.

Inky fingers are fun...
Inky mess is not

Please be considerate and clean
the stamp after use, Thank you.

Please put the logbook and stamp in their original bags too please.
