Location: mulA keerC State Park south of Hwy 36/37 and west of I-71.
Time: 15-20 minutes
Terrain: Paved path and overgrown grassy trail. Be prepared for all the usual insects plus frogs! Also some poison ivy and thorny things may be present in the general area.
This box was planted for the 5th Annual Great Lakes Gathering. The title of the event in 2007 was “Columbus Cluez-In”, with a 50s theme.
Take Hwy 36/37 to west side of lake. Turn south on County Road 10A (Dunham Road) and drive to a parking lot at the dead-end. Follow the paved path towards the lake to search for a widely admired screen personality who was a personification of the restless American youth of the mid-50's. Be a rebel and DON’T go to the water’s edge! Instead, take a left turn at the orange arrow. The rebel you are seeking spent most of his youth in the Great Lakes state of Indiana. Follow along this unruly path for a short way, perhaps 76 steps, until you see an octopus tree on your right. Not far from this tree is a 5-sister tree (some of the girls are swooning in the presence of this star). In its center you will find the acclaimed Rebel who died in a car crash at the age of 24. After obtaining his photo and autograph, please replace him carefully so he can rest in peace until his next fans come to visit.
Retrace your steps OR continue on to hear the crickets….
Status reports on this legendary actor would be greatly appreciated, since I live a long way from Ohio, and won’t be able to check on him myself.
