The Letterbox is MISSING - 1/15/11
Looks like a geo-cache has taken up residence

The "Retrospective" Letterbox is located on one of Pflugerville's many hike and bike trails.

Pflugerville is a bedroom community just north of Austin and just off of I-35. One of its best features is a series of paved hike and bike trails running through much of the city. The "Retrospective" letterbox is along one of the many trails. The terrain is extremely easy but the box is not wheelchair accessible.

To get there:
From I-35 take the FM 1825 exit. Head east on 1825, which will turn north very soon after exiting from I-35 and then twist and turn a couple of times as it becomes Pecan Street. Continue down Pecan Street through downtown Pflugerville. Turn north on FM 685 for a few blocks. Turn west on Split Oak Drive and look for the hike and bike trail north of the street.

Letterbox clues.
Take the paved hike and bike trail west. After a short distance you will see a round sign with a bright orange star in it. Take note of it and continue walking until you are due south of it on the trail. (There is an admonition there.) This is point A.

Continue west down the trail (on the crunchy path) until you come to an intersecting street. Note the name on the street sign. (----- ----- --)

Assign each letter in the street name a number by their reverse position in the alphabet. (e.g. A=26)

Now go back to point A.

From point A the target is on a ____ degree heading.
(Heading = sum of the letters of the second word plus letter Y.)

From point A the target is ___ paces.
(Distance = sum of the letters of the first and third words plus letter X.)

Alexander's legacy guards it. Look for 2858-294-2623 to verify you're in the right spot.

This box contains two stamps. "Retrospective" is the resident stamp that should stay with the box. The other is a hitchhiker stamp that is eager to travel and see the world. You are invited to take the hitchhiker stamp with you and place it in another letterbox. If you choose to take it please let me know so I can replace it with another.
